GRAY is a coming of age Young Adult novel that speaks to the heart of everyone who's ever had to grow up. It's the year after graduating high school, where one must move on and discover a new life for themselves.

Our protagonist, Maggie Whitaker, decides to forego college and work in her family-run jewelry shop. After reading about a mysterious John Doe in the paper who has been in a horrifying accident, she decides to embrace him in his time of need, and visit him in the hospital. Through a series of well-intended lies, she becomes embedded in his life and in his story, and through discovering him and who he is, she ultimately discovers herself. The subplot of the reintroduced gray wolves in the inland northwest only adds to the intrigue of the fast-paced, emotional character driven story.
