Macardle is a seventeen-year-old boy of mystical origins who is assigned an overlooker, Clibliss Clover. Lenny, a messenger bee, was sent from his colony at Honey Hill to find help, as the malicious and ghostly honeybee Tracy, “the Boobee,” placed Honey Hill under a terrible curse that killed all the flowers, and his fellow honeybees face a perilous extinction. Against Macardle’s wishes, the two partake in a journey full of surprises in this action-packed adventure. It is up to Macardle and Clibliss to find Tracy and reverse the damage before it is too late, but not before they meet a few characters along the way.
What I found in the sample:
"...No candidate is forced to marry; however, if a proposed match is not made official at the village wedding ceremony, both candidates are killed and fed to the wild beasts in the hills."--excerpt
I had to laugh at this line. So far, the sample promises a light, funny read with vivid characters. Macardle is likeable as he copes with his ability to fit in with the rest of his village and immediately gained my interest.
